Family-owned junk removal in Meridian, Idaho
Garden City, tucked inside Boise
Garden City is almost completely surrounded by Boise, but it runs its own show, and its housing is a real mix. Along Chinden Boulevard there are small older houses and manufactured-home parks, some of them closing as the land gets redeveloped. Down by the river, the Waterfront District around 36th and Adams has newer townhomes and infill built right up against the Greenbelt. In between you've got artists' studios, breweries and the Expo Idaho grounds.
That mix shapes the work. When a park closes or a home changes hands, someone has to clear out a whole manufactured home, the storage shed that came with the space, and whatever got tucked under the skirting. In the older houses off Glenwood Street it's often tight hallways and a single-car garage packed to the door. In the newer riverfront places, it's usually furniture that won't fit the floor plan or a move-out on a deadline.
Lots here are smaller and streets are busier than out in the suburbs, so parking and carrying distance matter more than they do on a cul-de-sac. We'll ask about access when you call so there are no surprises on the day.

Garden City's trash rules, permits and the river
Garden City's curbside trash and recycling are handled by Republic Services. Recycling is unlimited: fill the blue cart, then set a labeled box of extra recyclables next to it. Glass doesn't go in the cart at all. The city runs a free glass drop-off on the east side of the library and City Hall on North Glenwood instead.
Big stuff is a different story. Furniture, mattresses and other items that don't fit the cart need a call to Republic for a quote, and prices vary. The one free window is the week after Christmas, when extra bags and cans go out at no charge on your regular day. So for a couch, a dresser or a whole room, most people either rent a truck, call Republic, or have someone like us carry it out.
Household hazardous waste, like paint, solvents and pesticides, goes free to the facility at the Ada County Landfill, and bigger clean-out quantities have to go straight there rather than to the mobile collection sites. We don't haul hazardous materials, but we'll set them aside and tell you where they go.
Taking a structure down takes paperwork. Garden City requires a Building Demolition Permit, filed with an erosion and sediment control application, and a manufactured home has its own removal permit that can mean erosion-control inspections, capping the plumbing through DOPL and a floodplain review. A lot of the city sits in the Boise River floodplain, so that review comes up more than people expect. Streets belong to ACHD, so a dumpster in the road needs their right-of-way permit. And burning isn't the shortcut it might be elsewhere: fire service comes from Boise Fire, which limits open burning to recreational fires.

Garden City questions
Does Garden City have a free bulky pickup?+
Not a standing one. Large items need a call to Republic Services for a price. The week after Christmas you can set out extra bags and cans for free, but that's about it. For furniture or a cleanout, a junk removal crew is usually the simpler route.
We're clearing out a manufactured home before the park closes. Can you help?+
Yes. We'll empty the home, the storage shed and the yard, and set aside anything you want to keep. Removing the home itself takes a separate permit through the city, and clearing the contents first lets that work get started.
Can I put old glass jars in the recycling cart?+
No. Garden City keeps glass out of the blue cart. There's a free glass drop-off at the library and City Hall on North Glenwood.
Where do paint and chemicals go?+
To the household hazardous waste facility at the Ada County Landfill, which is free for households. Large clean-out amounts should go there directly. We'll leave those items for you and point you to it.
Is parking a problem on Chinden or near the river?+
Usually not, but mention it when you call. On narrow lots or busy streets we plan where to park ahead of time so loading goes smoothly.
