Family-owned junk removal in Meridian, Idaho

Nampa, a short drive west

Nampa is Idaho's third-largest city, and a lot of that size comes with age most towns around here don't have. Old Nampa's craftsman and kit bungalows went up between 1920 and 1940, the whole district sits on the National Register, and houses on those alley blocks still carry original windows and fixtures - some still wired with knob-and-tube. Cleanouts in that part of town skew older: furniture nobody's moved in decades, appliances long past their prime, boxes that got packed once and never opened again.

Move toward the edges and the jobs shift shape. North Nampa's newer subdivisions and the big HOA communities toward Lake Lowell in South Nampa mean more garage cleanouts and yard debris off bigger lots. Canyon County also has a good number of manufactured-home communities near Nampa, including 55+ parks, and those cleanouts come with their own quirks - tighter doorways, older appliances, and sometimes a shed or add-on that's seen better days.

We run Boise Bigfoot Junk Removal out of Meridian and cover Nampa regularly - garage cleanouts, estate cleanouts, appliance removal, hoarder cleanouts in those older Old Nampa homes, yard debris after a storm. Free estimates, no hidden fees. We show up, look at what's there, and tell you straight what it'll take to clear it.

Nampa residents can handle smaller loads themselves through city curbside or a trip out to the county landfill, and plenty of people do. Where it gets harder is the bigger stuff: a garage that's been filling up for years, an estate that needs clearing out fast, a load too heavy or awkward for one trip in a pickup. That's usually when it's easier to make one call instead of five trips.

Curbside, the Landfill, and the Permits In Between

Nampa residents have two basic paths for getting rid of bigger loads on their own: city curbside through Republic Services, or hauling it out to Pickles Butte Sanitary Landfill south of town toward Lake Lowell and Melba. Republic Services runs bulky-item pickup year-round for an added fee if you schedule it ahead - furniture, mattresses, water heaters, and appliances with the Freon pulled. They also run two free cleanup weeks a year: Spring Cleanup the third full week of April and Holiday Cleanup the first full week after Christmas, when bulky items and non-Freon appliances go out at no charge.

Pickles Butte takes household waste from Canyon and Owyhee county residents, plus car batteries, TVs, and tires for a fee - but loads have to be covered and secured before they hit the scale, and an uncovered load carries its own fee under county code. If you're tearing down a shed or outbuilding, check with Nampa's Building Safety & Code office first - relocating or demolishing a structure requires a permit. Burning yard debris needs a permit through Nampa Fire too, with limits on pile size and a quick check of air quality before you light anything.

Nampa questions

Does Nampa have a free week for getting rid of bulky items?+

Yes - Republic Services runs two free cleanup weeks a year, Spring Cleanup the third full week of April and Holiday Cleanup the first full week after Christmas, when bulky items and non-Freon appliances go out at no charge.

Can I just haul my own junk to the landfill in Nampa?+

You can. Pickles Butte Sanitary Landfill south of Nampa takes household waste from Canyon and Owyhee county residents for a fee, but the load has to be covered and secured before you reach the scale, so check their hours and rules before you load up the truck.

Do I need a permit to tear down an old shed in Nampa?+

If you're relocating or demolishing a structure, Nampa's Building Safety & Code office requires a demolition permit, so it's worth checking with them before you start pulling it apart.

Does it matter that a lot of Old Nampa homes are older?+

It can. A lot of those craftsman bungalows carry 90-year-old fixtures, original windows, or knob-and-tube wiring, so cleanouts there tend to turn up more older furniture and belongings than you'd find in a newer build.
